Agenda 21 is a United Nations, Comprehensive Master Development Plan for Sustainable Development of all of the resources of the earth. It combines radical environmental and Socialist doctrine to form an insidious ideology. It was adopted by 177 nations and the United States in 1992 and has been implemented by presidential administrative powers. Its purposes are reduced consumption of natural resources and control and limitation of all future development while achieving worldwide “Social Equity”. The latter is being achieved by a transfer of power and wealth from developed to undeveloped nations and the affluent to the less fortunate individuals. The plan requires international control of the world’s environment, economy and property. The rights of individual citizens become secondary to the needs of a collective society as viewed by government planners.
Agenda 21 is inconsistent with the constitutional principles and the national heritage of the United States. As control of American natural resources and land use policies are dictated by world powers, national sovereignty and individual property rights are being abdicated. Agenda 21 has not undergone legislative scrutiny and many elected officials are unaware that Sustainable Development initiatives are fulfillment of the UN plan. The objectives of Stop Agenda 21 Maryland are to expose the UN connection to Sustainable Development initiatives, preserve constitutional values and defend the freedom and individual property rights of Marylanders.
